The physical preparation of soldiers is a crucial factor in ensuring the successful execution of their duties. In modern armies, increasing emphasis is placed on functional training, which not only develops muscular strength or endurance but also includes movement patterns that can be directly applied during military operations. This study examines the applicability of CrossFit, as a functional, high-intensity training method, in the context of military physical education and training. It presents the key characteristics of CrossFit, the military equivalents of its movement patterns, and the physical assessment systems of various countries, which are increasingly focused on functional exercises. Based on these observations, it can be assumed that the CrossFit training method can be effectively integrated into military training systems, contributing to the development of soldiers’ versatile and service-optimized physical performance.

A katonák fizikai felkészítése fontos tényező a szolgálatuk sikeres ellátása érdekében. A modern hadseregekben egyre nagyobb hangsúlyt kap a funkcionális edzés, amely nem csupán az izomerőt vagy az állóképességet fejleszti, hanem olyan mozgásformákat is, amelyek közvetlenül alkalmazhatók a katonai műveletek során. A tanulmány a CrossFit mint funkcionális, magas intenzitású edzésmódszer alkalmazhatóságát vizsgálja a katonai testnevelés és kiképzés kontextusában. Bemutatom a CrossFit jellemzőit, a mozgásformák katonai megfelelőit, valamint különböző országok fizikai felmérési rendszereit, amelyek egyre inkább a funkcionális gyakorlatokra helyezik a hangsúlyt. Ezek alapján feltételezhető, hogy a CrossFit edzésmódszer hatékonyan beépíthető a katonai kiképzési rendszerbe, elősegítve a katonák sokoldalú, szolgálatra optimalizált fizikai teljesítőképességének fejlesztését.

More recently, sport has had to cope with a myriad of problems, including religious, political and economic interests and struggles, becoming a battleground for political interests. After the First World War, the political influence on sport was already visible, and the impact of decisions weighed heavily on athletes in particular. The Cold War and the ideological conflicts in the history of the post-World War II Olympics generated concrete actions and responses from politics and power. In this article, the authors analyse the events of the last two decades, highlighting the connections between military science and sport. They also present the application of the hard, medium and soft tools of hybrid warfare in sport through the lens of athletes’ equal opportunities. Furthermore, the study highlights the links between geopolitical events and sport, as well as the ad hoc nature of the decisions that accompany them. The article also notes that the impact of war on sports can be severe, damaging an athlete’s life and ruining a career carefully developed over time. The study concludes that ensuring security at Olympic events requires cooperation among the military, including special forces, law enforcement agencies, counterterrorism units, and civil and military national security services.

Personnel fluctuation in military units is widely considered both inevitable and a necessity for organisational interoperability. The ideal scale and frequency, however, is a matter of ongoing academic and institutional discourse. The purpose of this study is not to assess the impact of fluctuation on effectiveness, but rather to uncover its internal patterns and drivers. As they are shaped by tradition and collective experience, the armed forces often elude simple statistical models. This study applies linear and multivariate regression analysis to an eight-year dataset (2017–2024) of an infantry battalion within the Hungarian Defence Forces. Rather than seeking to account for the full variance of fluctuation, the objective of the analysis is to capture a defined and major portion of it, thus offering a data-driven, disciplined and objective overview of fluctuation within the land forces.

The study examines the causes of religious armed conflicts in Africa after the Cold War, focusing on the religions of the continent the interrelationships between religion and conflict and the key circumstances behind African armed conflicts since 1990. The study also addresses the activities of the Holy See both in relation to Africa and to security challenges. The aim of the study is to explore the main factors of religious armed conflicts in Africa focusing on the relationship between the causes of religious and non-religious armed conflicts.

A tanulmány a hidegháború után bekövetkezett afrikai vallási alapú fegyveres konfliktusok okait vizsgálja, kitérve a földrész vallásaira, a vallás és konfliktus közötti összefüggésekre, valamint az 1990 utáni afrikai fegyveres konfliktusok hátterében meghúzódó legfontosabb körülményekre. In the sanctions environment that emerged in the wake of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the Russian shadow fleet emerged as a unique instrument of the economic dimension of hybrid warfare. This study aims to demonstrate how a network consisting of aging tankers, front companies, and methods based on flag-hopping was established, through which Russia seeks to mitigate the impact of Western embargoes and price caps on oil exports. The analysis explores the fleet’s operational mechanisms – AIS manipulation, open-sea transshipments, and the concealment of ownership structures – and highlights that while the shadow fleet is formally linked to commercial activities, it functions as a wartime resource-sustaining infrastructure. This phenomenon poses serious risks to global maritime security and environmental protection, while also clearly illustrating the aim of hybrid warfare to co-opt the civilian economic sphere for military purposes.

Az orosz–ukrán háború nyomán kialakult szankciós környezetben az orosz árnyékflotta a hibrid hadviselés gazdasági dimenziójának sajátos eszközeként jelent meg. A tanulmány annak bemutatására törekszik, miként épült ki az idős tartályhajókból, fedőcégekből és lobogóváltásra alapuló módszerekből álló hálózat, amellyel Oroszország a nyugati embargók és árplafonok olajexportra gyakorolt hatását próbálja enyhíteni. Az elemzés feltárja a flotta működési mechanizmusait – AIS-manipulációt, nyílt tengeri átrakodásokat, tulajdonosi struktúrák elrejtését –, és rávilágít arra, hogy bár az árnyékflotta formálisan kereskedelmi tevékenységhez kötődik, funkcionálisan háborús erőforrás-fenntartó infrastruktúraként működik. A jelenség a globális tengerbiztonság és környezetvédelem szempontjából is komoly kockázatokat hordoz, egyúttal jól illusztrálja a hibrid hadviselés azon törekvését, hogy a civil gazdasági szférát háborús célok szolgálatába állítsa.

The study examines the current state of international legal regulation of cyber operations, with a particular focus on how the principles of international humanitarian law can be applied in cyberspace. The study aims to demonstrate the diversity of regulatory approaches and expert positions, and how these differences are reflected in state practice. The study focuses on the positions of four states – the United States, the United Kingdom, France and the Netherlands – which, through their different legal cultures and security policy backgrounds, illustrate the dynamics of formal acceptance and practical flexibility.

A tanulmány célja, hogy bemutassa a szabályozási megközelítések és szakértői álláspontok sokszínűségét, valamint azt, hogyan jelennek meg ezek a különbségek az állami gyakorlatban. The subject of this study is the weapons employed and the methods of their application in terrorist attacks committed within the territory of the European Union in the 21st century.
In the introductory section, the study defines the elements of the concept of terrorism relevant to the analytical framework applied in the research. It presents the weapons and perpetration methods used in terrorist attacks. Through case studies and by drawing on available statistical data, the study examines and analyzes in detail terrorist attacks carried out within the territory of the European Union during the period under review. The paper assesses the European Union’s joint and Member State–level response measures and their impact on the components of terrorism that constitute the focus of the research. Based on the analysis's trends and an international outlook, the study draws conclusions about the tools and methods that may be employed in potential future terrorist attacks within the territory of the European Union.

Tanulmányunk témáját az Európai Unió területén a 21. században elkövetett terrorcselekmények során használt fegyverek és alkalmazásuk módszerei képezik. A bevezető részben meghatározzuk a terrorizmus fogalmának kutatásunk szempontrendszere szerinti releváns elemeit. Ismertetjük a terrorcselekmények során alkalmazott fegyvereket és elkövetési módszereket. Esettanulmányokon keresztül, illetve a rendelkezésre álló statisztikai adatok felhasználásával részletesen tárgyaljuk és elemezzük a vizsgált időszakban az Európai Unió területén elkövetett terrorcselekményeket. Értékeljük az Európai Unió közös és tagállami szintű válaszintézkedéseit és azok hatását a terrorizmus kutatásunk tárgyát képező összetevőire. Az elemzés során feltárt tendenciák alapján, illetve nemzetközi kitekintés alapján következtetéseket vonunk le az Európai Unió területén az esetleges jövőbeni terrorcselekmények során alkalmazandó eszközök és módszerek tekintetében.

Rather than offering a sectoral inventory, the paper starts from the recognition that deception-based communication can distort operational decision-making, producing supply-security disruptions and loss of trust. Using Hungarian case vignettes, it examines how narrative-induced risk emerges when manipulation of credibility cues (brand impersonation, cloned domains, persona-based social attacks, audiovisual falsification) combines with cross-channel amplification to raise the likelihood of incidents. The analytical frame is organized persuasive communication (OPC), with emphasis on the decision-distorting mechanisms of organized persuasion rather than the narrower category of “fake news.” Defence is conceptualized as a three-level, feedback-driven practice: user-level cue-interpretation skills (micro), organizational fast-cycle rebuttal and alerting (meso), and platform- and regulator-level cooperation protocols (macro). Findings indicate that communication threats are mitigated most effectively where service-continuity metrics are tied to measurable fact-checking and response times; this linkage enables targeted resilience gains and reduces decision-making noise.

A tanulmány kiindulópontja nem a szektorok felsorolása, hanem az a felismerés, hogy a megtévesztésre épülő kommunikáció képes a működési döntéseket torzítani, így ellátásbiztonsági zavarokhoz és bizalomvesztéshez vezetni. Magyarországi példákon vizsgálom, miként alakul ki a narratíva által kiváltott kockázat, amikor a hitelességi jelek manipulálása (márkautánzás, domainklónok, personaalapú közösségi támadások, audiovizuális hamisítás) és a csatornaátterjesztés együtt növeli az incidensek valószínűségét. Az értelmezési keret az OPC fogalma, de a fókusz a szervezett meggyőzés döntéstorzító mechanizmusain van, nem az „álhír” kategóriáján. A védekezést háromszintű, visszacsatolt gyakorlatként ragadom meg: felhasználói jelértelmezési készségek (mikroszint), szervezeti gyorsciklusú cáfolat és riasztás (mezoszint), valamint platform- és hatósági kooperációs protokollok (makroszint). Eredményeim szerint a kommunikációs fenyegetések kezelése ott hatékony, ahol a szolgáltatásfolytonosság mérőszámai összekapcsolódnak a tényellenőrzés és a válaszlépések mérhető idejével; e kapcsolat teszi lehetővé a reziliencia célzott növelését és a döntéshozatali zaj mérséklését.

In this work, I examine the western campaigns of the Huns in the Migration Period, and Medieval Hungarian chronicles. The methodology of the research can be summarized as follows: first, I describe the Migration Period and then the Hungarian stories of the western Hunnic campaigns. After that, I perform a comparative analysis of the two sets of stories in chronological order. This way, the reader can also check my analysis as well. During the comparison, I succeeded in identifying the real historical figures behind the heroes of our chronicles (Macrinus, Detre), as well as the various Hunnic campaigns and the locations related to them (e.g. Belvider, the question of Croatian campaigns). I conclude the work by drawing my conclusions. In this chapter, I reject the previous views that out Hunnic stories were copied or invented by Hungarian authors, and I rather take a stand in favour of their originality.

Jelen munkában a hunok nyugati hadjáratait vizsgálom a nyugati, népvándorláskorabeli, valamint a középkori magyar krónikákban. A kutatás módszertana az alábbiak szerint foglalható össze: először a népvándorláskorabeli, majd a magyar hun történeteket írom le. Ezután a két történetcsokor összehasonlító elemzését végzem el időrendben haladva. Ezáltal az elemzés ellenőrzését az olvasó is elvégezheti. Az összehasonlítás során sikerült a krónikáinkban szereplő valós történelmi szereplők (Macrinus, Detre), valamint a különböző hun hadjáratok és a hozzájuk kapcsolódó különböző helyszínek azonosítása (pl. Belvider, horvát hadjáratok kérdése). A munkát a következtések levonásával zárom. A következtetésekben elvetem azokat a korábbi nézeteket, amelyek szerint a hun történeteket a magyar szerzők másolták, vagy kitalálták volna, inkább azok eredetisége mellett foglalok állást.

Over the past decade, the Hungarian Honvéd Cadet Program has become one of the most dynamic and influential initiatives in public education. This study explores its historical background, development, and international context, highlighting how defence education has once again become an integral part of Hungary’s school system. The author of the publication works in this system as a high school teacher, so the research provides insight based not only on academic knowledge but also on practical experience. The three-level HKP structure – general education, vocational training, and boarding-school level –offers a comprehensive framework that nurtures patriotism, discipline, and social responsibility. Rather than serving solely as a pathway to a military career, the program represents a value-based educational model designed to shape a generation capable of both serving their country and thriving in civilian life.

A Honvéd Kadét Program az elmúlt évtizedben a magyar köznevelés egyik leggyorsabban fejlődő és legnagyobb hatású kezdeményezésévé vált. A tanulmány célja, hogy bemutassa a program történeti gyökereit, fejlődési szakaszait és nemzetközi kontextusát, valamint rávilágítson arra, hogyan vált a honvédelmi nevelés újra a köznevelés szerves részévé. A publikáció szerzője középiskolai oktatóként maga is e rendszerben dolgozik, így a kutatás nemcsak tudományos, hanem gyakorlati tapasztalatokon alapuló betekintést is nyújt. A háromszintű HKP-modell (közismereti, szakképzési és bentlakásos szint) olyan komplex nevelési struktúrát képvisel, amely egyszerre épít a hazaszeretetre, a fegyelemre és a közösségi felelősségvállalásra. A tanulmány hangsúlyozza, hogy a program nem pusztán katonai pályaorientáció, hanem értékalapú pedagógiai válasz a 21. századi társadalmi kihívásokra – a haza iránt elkötelezett, felelősen gondolkodó fiatal generáció nevelése érdekében.

One of the most influential youth organizations of the interwar period combined pre-military training, patriotic education, and the teaching of religious and moral values in a complex manner. The movement not only sought to develop physical fitness and create a disciplined youth that could be mobilized for military service, but also placed great emphasis on strengthening the patriotic commitment alongside religious and moral norms. This institution was an integral part of the state’s youth policy, which served national political goals, educational aspirations, and social control mechanisms simultaneously. The integrated educational program, tight state control, and the harmonization of social expectations made it possible to educate young people within a unified ideological and organizational framework.

A két világháború között Magyarország meghatározó ifjúsági szervezete egyesítette a premilitáris képzést, a hazafias nevelést és a vallás-erkölcsi értékek közvetítését, a fizikai erőnlét fejlesztésére és a katonailag mozgósítható, fegyelmezett ifjúság kialakítására törekedett, emellett a hazafias elköteleződés és a vallási-morális normák megerősítését is kiemelten kezelte.
