Abstract
One of the central issues of 21st century security policy is the role of resilience among the factors shaping today's security environment. This paper examines how resilience can address the security challenges of today. To this end, it reviews the relevant factors shaping and influencing Europe's current security environment along the EU-NATO security axis and attempts to place resilience in the context of the geopolitical challenges of the global security system. By exploring the relationship between resilience and security, the paper highlights the strategic importance of this approach and argues that it can play a fundamental role in achieving sustainable security.
