Abstract
Like other military functions and activities, there is a gap between what nations can do and what NATO can do to allow successful CBRN event mitigation if NATO as a multinational, political lead organisation is requested to support such an effort. It is expedient to identify such deficiencies and procedural differences before the occurrence of the event, so that the cooperation during the defence would be as smooth as possible and the countermeasures would be as effective as possible.
How to create better starting points for successful cooperation between NATO forces and the host nation, bridging the gap between supporting Article 3 activities and the war requirement to mobilise NATO forces in the event of a major CBRN incident? The article is looking for the answer to this.
