Military Historical Experiences of Organising a New Type of Military Branch – Assault Artillery or Self-propelled Artillery

Abstract

The establishment of the assault artillery team during World War II brought a significant change in the history of artillery. The self-propelled and armoured howitzer required the development of new combat procedures, a new organisational structure and team spirit, so the military history experience of setting up the 1st Assault Artillery Battalion could be useful in organising a new self-propelled artillery battalion as a part of the Defence and Armed Forces Development Program.
