Abstract

Issues like job related stress and employee well-being have been widely studied in the 20th and 21st century. Many researchers have examined these topics from multiple aspects. Their results show that those companies which consciously look after their employees mental and physical welfare and have well organized stress management and workplace well-being programs have lower absence and fluctuation rates. This paper summarizes the results of existing studies in general and the special case of the armed forces and professional military personnel in particular. Then, the paper lists and explains those factors which may cause tension inside organizations. Existing job related stress research and literature focuses on three areas: preoperative stress, the main factors of stress and the posttraumatic stress syndrome.
