Defeating the Malay Guerrillas. The Most Successful Counter-insurgency (COIN) Operation

doi: 10.32563/hsz.2019.1.8

Abstract

By defeating the communist insurrection in Malaya that occurred between 1957-60, the British have demonstrated the effectiveness of counter-insurgency tactics and strategies. In my paper, I’ll attempt to illustrate how the British have managed to deal with an anti-governmental rebellion with the use of propaganda, and the media in general. I will also show the potential efficiency of civilian-military cooperation, with which this whole strategy could be executed.
