Additions to the End of Fighting in Hungary – April 1945

Abstract

Until the systemic change that took place in 1989-1990 commemorating the end of Total War, more commonly known as World War Two was celebrated on 4 April in Hungary. In Nemesmedves where a T-34 tank was placed celebrations were held on an annual basis, and every five year a big military parade was held in Budapest together with armed partner organizations. Everything was planned accordingly and the events took place spectacularly. People were given decorations, and in the calendars this special day was marked with red letters. Only the day and the place was wrong.
