The Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) is a systematic, top-down logical and diagrammatic risk assessment
tool, which shows the causal relations leading to a given undesired event, so-called Top Event
(TE). The events that cannot be further developed are the Basic Events (BEs). Probabilistic Fault
Tree Analysis (PFTA) is a quantitative analysis method used to calculate the probability of TE
depending on probabilities of BEs. Analysing the correlation coefficients between the reliabilities
of TE and BEs is effective in selecting the critical elements that have the greatest impact on system
reliability. The aim of the study is, on the one hand, to develop a correlation-based method for
examining the sensitivity of probabilistic fault tree analysis. On the other hand, to compare the
sensitivity results obtained in this way with the results of the Linear Fault Tree Sensitivity Model
developed by the Author earlier.

A különböző szintű események megbízhatóságai, bekövetkezési valószínűségei közötti korrelációs együtthatók elemzése hatékony módszer a rendszer megbízhatóságára legnagyobb hatást gyakorló kritikus alapesemények, elemek kiválasztására. A tanulmány célja egyrészt egy korrelációalapú módszer kidolgozása a valószínűségi hibafaelemzés érzékenységének vizsgálatára. Másrészt az így kapott érzékenységi eredmények összehasonlítása a szerző korábban kidolgozott lineáris hibafa érzékenységi modell eredményeivel.

This article deals with the topic of pose and sensor bias estimation based on global navigation satellite system (GNSS) and inertial measurement unit (IMU) measurements, which is a widely
discussed topic but usually by omitting the rigorous check of state observability leading to the
suspicion of invalid assumptions. The current work underlines this suspicion by pointing out through
observability calculations that to estimate position, velocity, orientation and acceleration, and
angular rate biases of a system, orientation-related measurements should be included besides
GNSS position and velocity data. Such measurement can be the magnetic vector. Theoretical results are underlined by tests considering real flight GNSS and IMU data of a DJI M600 Pro multicopter and comparing the results to the onboard DJI pose estimator.

The purpose of this publication is to present the logistical support possibilities for the combat
turnaround of the JAS 39 Gripen aircraft of the Hungarian Defence Forces on highway airstrips.
The study highlights that due to the increasing vulnerability of static airbases, horizontal dispersion
has become inevitable, specifically the temporary use of specially designed highway networks
for aviation purposes. The research analyses in detail the aircraft maintenance requirements for
the ground servicing of a four-ship flight, focusing on a minimal logistical footprint. Furthermore,
a primary objective of the article is to emphasise that the development of this strategic capability
is not merely an operational issue. For successful and compliant application, it is essential that not
only the operations personnel but also the aircraft maintenance and other logistical specialist
personnel are involved as early as the site selection and requirements formulation phases.

Jelen publikáció célja, hogy bemutassa a Magyar Honvédség JAS 39 Gripen repülőgépeinek ismételt harcfeladatra történő felkészítésének logisztikai támogatási lehetőségét közúti leszállóhelyeken. A tanulmány rávilágít arra, hogy a statikus repülőterek növekvő sebezhetősége miatt elkerülhetetlen a horizontális széttelepítés, azon belül is a speciálisan kialakított gyorsforgalmi úthálózatok repülési célú, ideiglenes igénybevétele.

Between 7 and 10 May 2025, an armed conflict ensued between Pakistan and India, with both parties engaging in substantial aerial bombardment of each other’s military infrastructure. It was during this conflict that the Chinese-made PL-15(E) air-to-air missile was reportedly used for the first time in combat. In this article, the authors provide a comprehensive account of the Chinese missile, accompanied by a comparative analysis with other missiles.

Getting us to participate as effectively as possible in space-related economic activities is a challenge
for the present and the near future. The war raging in our neighbourhood once again highlights
the scarcity of exploiting scientific results based on military applications. Hungarian radio
electronics during the Second World War, e.g. radio tube production and their applications in the
development and deployment of various types of radios, electronics, devices and radars such as
the SAS, Borbala and Turul, were based on the military operational and technical requirements
of the Military Institute of Technology (HTI). All our technical achievements are based on the
intellectual potential of our world-class secondary and university education issued in 1920s by
Kunó Klebelsberg. Today, as 80 years ago, our potential is largely determined by the Hungarian
linguistic environment and our historical achievements in the field of engineering. By assessing
these, we can explore and assess the industrial and technical background of our predecessors,
the directions in which they were successful and how this was received in the international
environment. Since the Tungsram Moon radar measurements led by Zoltán Bay represent
a milestone in this process, the space-related aspects of the then and recent successes will be
reviewed, highlighting the messages for today.

Minél hatékonyabb részvételünk a világűrrel kapcsolatos gazdasági tevékenységekben a jelen és a közeljövő feladata. A szomszédunkban dúló háború ismét felértékeli a katonai alkalmazásokon alapuló tudományos eredmények hatékony kihasználását.

Dr. Habil István Balajti, associate professor, electrical engineer (MSC), defended his candidate's degree (CSc /PhD) in digital signal processing of radar, while his habilitation was in the area of tracking characteristics of air targets. He gained his practical experience in the installation and operation of the radar and airdefence guidance system that secures Budapest's airspace, as well as live shooting excersizes. In its fourth golden age, the Institute of Military Technology expanded its specialized experience by developing R&D of military radar and radio-electronic spectrum control systems and managing the related R&D topics. In similar topics, Hungary is a specialist referent for tasks related to NATO accession. He then worked for 20 years at the NATO Procurement and Supply Agency (NAMSA/NSPA) in Luxembourg in the Air Defense Program Department. He increased his knowledge as an expert in servicing the life cycle of radar systems and "in-situ" measurements. Since 1995, he has been involved in the international scientific community activities related to radar systems. Currently, at the University of Debrecen, he supports the professional development of interested future engineers.

Modern magnetometers integrated into inertial measurement units play a fundamental role
in control and navigation systems of unmanned aerial vehicles. Consequently, detecting their
failures is a key task for ensuring reliable navigation and to maintain flight safety. A promising
approach to solve this problem is to use the onboard cameras, as most modern drones come
equipped not just only with IMU and GNSS sensors but also with cameras for various tasks such as
video recordings. Accordingly, the objective of this work is to develop an algorithm for detecting
magnetic sensor failures using mono camera images. During this research, we developed an IMU
magnetometer fault detection method based on mono camera images and tested on real flight
data. The relative rotation of the camera between two consecutive frames was determined using
homography and essential matrices derived from the mono camera image sequence. Based on
the resulting cumulative rotation matrix, a method for detecting the magnetic sensor faults was
developed by applying an up-down counter-based residual thresholding method. Three different
types of sensor faults were artificially generated on the IMU’s magnetic measurements and the
proposed method successfully detected all three fault types.

This study examines the similarities and differences in risk management, decision-making, and information management within the NATO standardisation system, within the context of the
relationship between aviation safety in military environment and the force protection. Both
fields serve to maintain operational effectiveness but operate with different risk concepts and
toolkits; aviation safety primarily manages risks arising from unintended events, while force
protection reduces vulnerability to intentional threats. The article highlights the common
structural framework and mindset of risk management processes, procedural documentation, training, and defence in depth, while emphasising the fundamental differences in objectives and decision-making mechanisms.

The development of precision crop protection is increasingly moving toward a platform-independent technological approach, where aerial and ground-based application systems are built upon the same operational principles while exhibiting different physical and operational characteristics. The performance of aerial systems is primarily influenced by aerodynamic and flight-dynamic factors affecting droplet distribution and spray drift, whereas ground-based systems rely on stable hydraulic and mechanical conditions to ensure uniform application. The aim of the study is to conduct a comparative analysis of a multirotor drone and a tractor-trailed field sprayer under identical agronomic conditions using ULV technology. The research evaluates the operational characteristics, performance, time requirements, and efficiency of both platforms, followed by an assessment of application quality and operational applicability under standardized test conditions. The results highlight that the coordinated use of aerial and ground-based systems may provide significant advantages in precision crop protection.

The “Brain Maintenance” and “Nobel Beers” educational concepts, developed at the Faculty
of Engineering of the University of Debrecen, reinforce fundamental engineering skills through
examples of radar technology. This method responds to the rapid technological changes unfolding with Industry 4.0 and the integration of Industry 5.0 and artificial intelligence (AI) into all areas of life, placing particular emphasis on the continuous development of generally expected basic engineering skills, which may also contribute to the revival of domestic military engineering
education.
