The Impact of the Russo-Ukrainian War on the Baltic States

Abstract

The article gives an overwiev of the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war on the Baltic states and their responses to the Russian aggression against Ukraine since February 2022. The paper presents the general political and social reaction to the war, changes in threat perception and in security and military policy of the countries in question (especially in regards development of the armed forces, strategic documents and defence budget), the answer of the Baltic states to the Russian aggression in terms of regional and alliance (EU, NATO) initiatives, their role in the adoption of sanctions against Russia, their assistance to Ukraine in terms of weapons deliveries and humanitarian aid.
