Abstract

Serbia’s immediate neighbourhood has undergone significant changes over the past two decades, thanks to the continued enlargement of the EU and NATO, making the region more stable and secure. Over the past decade, Belgrade has sought to become a stabilizing factor in the region, promoting and supporting various regional initiatives. Between 2015 and 2019, it became more active, mainly in Bulgaria and Romania, and from 2019 onwards, it approached Albania and Northern Macedonia. In order to promote its role as a regional stabilizing factor, Serbia has sought to take substantive steps in the field of “vaccine diplomacy” as a consequence of the coronavirus epidemic. As a result, it has strengthened its leadership in the region.
