The Communication Strategy and Tactics of the ’Islamic State’

Abstract

The study offers a unique sample and overview of the communication strategy and tactics of the so called ’Islamic State’, specifically focusing on social media platforms based on a collection of primary sources. The author argues that these forms of communication of the ‘Islamic State’ constitute a complex and well-developed, sometimes nuanced, targeted activity that is aimed not only at spreading radical messages but also the purposes of recruitment and generating legitimacy.
