The Conditions of Montenegro’s NATO Accession

Abstract

The intent of this paper is to describe the conditions regarding Montenegro’s NATO accession with a focus on the steps of the Đukanović governments’ active foreign policy. The October 2016 election does not entail substantial changes in foreign affairs that is wishing to actively shape its environment. Despite this, the planned Euro-Atlantic integration could cause not only political, but also economic problems, because of the considerable Russian influence. This paper will show all this, based on the concept of small states, which assume high scale of vulnerability and examine unconventional strategies in order to resilience.
