Abstract
In my paper, I will study the personalization of politics in the context of two periods: during the crisis of the first and the second republic. On the one hand I will analyze the role of Silvio Berlusconi in the process of personalization following the Clean Hands (mani pulite) scandals during the early nineties. On the other hand, I will analyze the return of Silvio Berlusconi during the crisis of the second republic after 2011, and then the activities of two politicians, Beppe Grillo and Matteo Renzi.
