The Potential of Mission Command in Today’s Complex Armed Conflicts

Abstract
The complex security environment of the 21st century and the use of modern technology create new challenges for today’s armies not only in the use of force, but also in leadership. This leads to the renaissance of mission command as a solution for leadership in a modern army on the increasingly complex battlefields. It is necessary to know the basic principles of the application of this leadership model, in order to apply it effectively on the battlefield. The use of computer systems and artificial intelligence in the leadership of modern armies are a growing trend, but at the same time it must still be necessary to pay increased attention to the human
factor. The purpose of this publication is to provide background why the application of this leadership philosophy is still necessary for the armed forces of the 21st century.
