Abstract
Sport has had to deal with many problems in recent times: religious, political, and economic interests and battles. The first part of this two-part series of articles explores the current equality issues: how sport has been affected by the wars that have taken place in the world and are still raging. What impact has it had on previous Olympics, and what will it have on the 2024 Paris Olympics? The article looks explicitly at how wars in the past and present have affected/are affecting the chances of athletes of different nationalities.
