The current research interprets  competence as an element of organisational socialisation. Competence, as a determining factor of the institution– person interaction, contributes to the success of new  entrants’ integration. The research – with exploratory nature – presents 18 competences, which appear among  the future leader staff of the Hungarian Defence Forces. It  also highlights such employee needs, beyond professional competences, that derive from the specific features of the  special focus group. The analysis of the employees’ side  highlights the necessity to word the pure – suited to the  target group – expectations, and raises the demand for  developing alternative possibilities for the future.
