doi: 10.32563/hsz.2021.1.7

Abstract

Cultural memory is the appearance of symbols, signs, and emblems that define the memory and identity of a nation  for generations. In Hungarian history we can find many  events that have defined the symbols of the Hungarian  consciousness for generations. Not only significant but  rather fast-paced, dynamic changes can be observed on the symbols conveyed by soldiers during the 20th century. The  influence of the ideological system of the political system of the given period on the memory of the nation extends to  the symbolism of the cultural values conveyed on the  occasion of state and national celebrations.
