Evaulation of Railway Networks with Theatre Level Logistic Reconnaissance

Abstract

The article deals with the possible tasks that can be important for the evaluation of the railway infrastructure  and equipment in theatre level logistic reconnaissance. People who plan and organise the logistic support can use  different transporting methods with onward movement of  forces depending on where, when and in what kind of  operation the designated unit has to take part. Information  that comes from reconnaissance and evaluation of railway  network can play an important role in maintenance of  mobility capability of forces when it is necessary to move a  lot of military personnel and equipment. In the article the  authors present a checklist that can be applied in  conducting logistic reconnaissance and can help when  transporting of forces is planned on railway network.
