Jomini’s Opinions on Irregular Warfare and the Effects of His Views on the Current Asymmetric Conflicts

Abstract

One of the first theorists on irregular warfare was Antoine-Henri Jomini, from the 19th century. In the current study I will analyse the articles about ‘national war’ (in his words) in his book titled The Art of War, and describe in detail the aspects of this type of conflict. Based on this I will outline those points which had an impact on current asymmetric, irregular warfare, too, and which are still with us during these wars.
