Abstract
In the World War II the partisan warfare was a sideshow but in some European countries (France, Soviet Union and Yugoslavia) resistance movements were really effective and powerful against the invading forces. The study at first sums up the characteristics of partisan warfare in the European theatre of WW II. After this the study presents the fights of the French Resistance, the Soviet partisan movement and Tito’s partisans in Yugoslavia by using the war memoirs of Charles de Gaulle, Joseph Stalin, Georgy Zhukov and Josip Tito.
