Abstract
This study discusses the appearance of attrition warfare with regards to naval warfare. Initially I will define the three cultures of warfare and their characteristics. The second part of the study will discuss the examples of the culture of attrition warfare found in the works of renowned theorists, Alfred Thayer Mahan and Sir Julian Stafford Corbett.
