Abstract

The experiences of Russia regarding military counter-espionage and intelligence during
the First World War were summarised by members of the Red Army – with special attention
to military espionage, the dangers of enemy agent networks, the agent preparation schools, the methods they kept contact with each other and the way these enemy spies were fought and unveiled. The intelligence experiences of the Russian–Japanese War (1904–1905), World War I and the following Polish–Soviet War (1919–1921) will be processed in this study.
