Policy Analysis – A Method for Strategic Evaluation

Abstract

The term of strategy is no longer exclusively linked to defence and military activities. Firms competing on the market act along well-developed strategies. It is well known that one of the keys to success is the implementation of strategies, therefore they are evaluated and reviewed regularly. These methods are only partially suitable for reviewing and evaluating the national security studies. The policy analysis developed by Richard L. Kugler a three-way assessment method for analysing strategies and policies. Strategic evaluation, systems analysis and operations research are the three different methods for evaluating strategic documents, comparing different options, in order to ease decision-making for senior officials. In this article the author presents a general description of this research method.
