Abstract
The study treats the operations of the Hussard Battalion of the 11th Székely/Székler Border Regiment on the Southern field of operations in 1848. The author sketches out the background of the political decision what resulted in the deployment of a part of the Székely/Székler border forces against the Serbian uprising, treats the difficulties of the mobilization as well as the march of the two squadrons, their activity on the battlefield and their return to the subordination of the Army of Transylvania. The study is based mainly on archival sources and contemporary newspaper reports.
