Abstract

The study summarizes the military career of Field Marshal Svetozar Boroević von Bojna, his role in the First World War, details the feats of arms (the Battle of Komarów, the Isonzo Battles) for which he received two different grades of the hig hest decoration of Austria-Hungary, the Maria Theresa Military Order. One can get to know the circumstances of his decorating with the Commander’s Cross of the Order by Emperor Charles I. on 2 June 1917, furthermore the facts, why the Knight’s Cross of the Order was awarded to the Field Marshal posthumous in 1931.
