Abstract

In the period between 1900 and 1924 the most important problems of the Hungarian migration policy completely changed. While till the outbreak of the WWI it was the migration flow to the US which consisted a hard task for the government, during the war the arrival of the war-refugees and from the autumn of 1918 on the immigrant-refugees formed the most difficult problem to Budapest. Thus, the above three distinct milestones hallmark the Hungarian migration policy’s changes in the first 25 years of the 20th century. After all, the Hungarian migration policy’s main and general goal remained the control by all means, in brief that the migration flow should be controlled.
