Abstract

The context of autonomy is constantly changing, in addition to the priorities of the community, the national and the international political factors are decisive. The questions of autonomy need to be re-thought, the question have to be included in the dominant discourses of the era. Tradition is present in public administration; it is a good practice to recapture tradition when designating certain elements of the state structure. If the bottom-up regionalism, the self-build of local communities is accepted, then the country defines itself as a summation or treaty of communities.
The decisive element of Transylvanian Hungarian autonomy discourse is Szeklerland, the reference to Szekler history. There must be a demand for centuries of autonomy: something that existed at one time, it is still today. The importance of the historical perspective is undeniable, even if the reading of historical processes on the Hungarian and Romanian sides is different, and therefore, we must base ourselves on the principles of recalling history as a pattern. The purpose of referral is to recall the status of a region of specific status, its centuries-old community, and its traditional institution.
