The Migration and Asylum Policy of the Visegrád Group
Abstract
Some of the measures given as responses to the migration crisis reaching the European Union in 2015 have caused a crucial fault-line within the EU. This study aims to introduce and analyse the alternative migration and asylum policy represented by the countries of the Visegrád Group. The first part examines the volume of the migration pressure in the V4, the second overviews the rate of the given forms of international protection in the Visegrád countries, the third analyses the four main elements of the alternative asylum and migration approach, whilst the last unit studies the strength of the commitments of the Visegrád countries to the alternative approach, the circumstances might endanger this commitment and last but not least the impact of the alternative policy to the European mainstream.
