The Comparative Analysis of the Corsican and the Basque Separatist Ambitions

Abstract

The separatist ambitions based on historical motivations and differences of identities, with special regard to Corsica and the Basque Country, play an essential role in political science and security policy research. The growing number of scientific literature in English, Spanish and French proves that the radicalisation of separatism and the actions of the terrorist organisations throughout the last half century are still problematic phenomena. Despite the numerous similarities, also several differencies exist in the two secessionist aspirations. Discovering it provides a special imaginary trip to the Mediterranean area.
