Abstract
The different Islamist groups have become a regional security threat on the Horn of Africa. Although al-Shabaab has suffered significant military setbacks, the group could adopt to the new circumstances and not only maintained its operational capability in Somalia but also spread its influence into other countries. While some countries – like Kenya – struggle to stop the rising power of Jihadists, Ethiopia has managed to limit their influence.
