doi: 10.32561/nsz.2021.2.4

Abstract

In line with the objectives set at EU and national level concerning the fight against terrorist offences and other serious criminal offences – and under the applicable legal
standards – an integral part of the activities carried out by the Counter-terrorism Information and Criminal Analysis Centre is the assessment and analysis of travel data for the purpose of the said objectives. This function is performed by the Travel Intelligence Targeting Centre. Although in its current form the Targeting Centre is one of the youngest entity within the Counter-terrorism Information and Criminal Analysis Centre, its roots lie in the former Passenger Information Unit established within the
framework of its predecessor, the Coordination Centre against Organised Crime. This article presents the areas of expertise covered by the activities of the Travel Intelligence
Targeting Centre.
