The Role of Energy Security in the International Relations Theories

Abstract

In the first part of the publication it has been presented that following the landmark de-cision of Winston Churchill in 1913, oil has developed to be a strategic product. The aforementioned decision also had consequences to the course of the First and the Second World War, and affected the later efforts of the allied countries to gain influence in the Middle East. The course of these events shaped the perspective and the subject-matter of the security studies. This has resulted in the birth of notions like geopolitics of energy and geo-economics of energy. This paper – the second part of the publication – wishes to present the topic of energy security through the lenses of international relations theories.
