State Aid Rules in Times of Virus-crisis

Abstract

The paper summarises EU competition rules relating to the provision of state aid by Member States, with a special focus on aid given to support undertakings in  times of crisis. We give an overview of soft law documents issues by the Commission in relation to Covid-19 virus state aid and also the relevant  Hungarian measures. A short comparison is provided about the soft rules adopted during the financial  crisis and the current legal framework.
