Fundamental Rights Cases – The European Court of Human Rights, Strasbourg

Abstract

This article intends to present some of the most important developments in the period between 16 March and 15 June 2018 concerning the case law of the European Court of Human Rights, such as cases against Hungary pertaining to issues of international child abduction and freedom of assembly, as well as other cases concerning the notion of “matters referred to the Court” and the validity of a derogation under Article 15. It would further report on an important step in the reform process concerning the Court – notably, the impending entry into force of Protocol No. 16 to the Convention.
