Essential Features and Grouping of Hazards of Aviation and Airports Operation

doi: 10.32560/rk.2020.1.9

Abstract

Aviation has become an accessible form of travel for everyone by now, yet most people still think that it is extremely dangerous, and its safety depends on several hazards. A similar view has emerged regarding the operation of airports, too, especially with the spread of terrorism and the increased number of attacks against aircrafts and airports in the last decade. Of course, complete security can’t be achieved in this area either, even if the technological development of aviation, the modernisation of airports, the newly introduced operating and security procedures and methods reduce the possibility of the threats. The author of this article explores and systematises the sources of danger which affect aviation, the operation of airports and people’s judgment on the security of flying. Furthermore, he describes the basic features, expected effects and consequences of the various hazards, and offers suggestions on how to positively  influence the average people’s attitude towards flying.
