Abstract
It has been decades, since the Hungarian Defense Forces operating a 24/7 a year service, which provides search and rescue for the troubled aircrews. The military search and rescue capability is now a part of a nationwide system, which is activated with the non-military ground elements when an air traffic incident occurs. Over the years, the HDF has proved its effectiveness in this field, on numerous occasions, but here ‒ as in all systems ‒ there are certain shortcomings/challenges. I analyze these challenges in this study.
