Abstract
Since their inception, unmanned aerial vehicles have brought benefits to the user and much annoyance to their surroundings. As long as aerial robots were seen as a military product in military hands, there was no need to classify them, nor was there a category. Since, like all military tools, objects, applications and knowledge, drones have become part of everyday civilian life, there has been a growing need for restrictive regulation. In the following publication, the authors describe the criteria and characteristics that allow these new flying vehicles to be classified into groups. Furthermore, the article also explains what categories exist in connection with military unmanned aircraft and how they differ from country to country in their approach to drones.
