Space Force and Space Strategy in the Multipolar World

doi: 10.32560/rk.2021.2.11

Abstract

U.S. President (Barack Obama) did not care so much for the elaboration of the new Space Force and its strategy; he did not assume responsibility for his decision. However, debate on how to solve this task of national security had been going on for a decade. In the changing, multipolar world each global power had Space Force, except for the USA. Following the directive by the President, the establishment of the sixth branch of the armed forces had started. By the end of summer 2018 the outlines of the creation of Space Force and space strategy were set up. Russia has been present in Space since more than half a century. Meanwhile Cold War struck, and a massive economic and politic crisis between 1991–2007 evolved. Despite all this, Russia maintained the protection of her interests even in hard times, as much as possible. China started from scratch to be present in Space and for her efforts to be taken seriously. After 26 years, no one is questioning this.
