Abstract

Nowadays, the examination of the propeller-driven propulsion systems is the active field of the research and developments due to their high propulsion efficiency and low fuel consumption. However, to design a propeller-driven system, it is essential to have a well-established, validated and computationally cheap calculation procedure, which can be used independently from the parameter settings of the simulation. Hence, the main goal of the present investigation is to perform sensitivity analyses by means of mesh type, size and material properties in case of rotating domain based CFD simulations for an experimental propeller in order to keep the same results and having the most reasonable computational costs. Cumulative error has been used to ensure the quantitative comparisons of different configurations and to compare the results of different test scenarios with each other.
