Abstract
Nowadays statistical based analog forecasting is a widely used technique in ultra-short term aviation weather prediction. This type of models search weather situations in a climatic database which are similar to the actual one in a given location. This raises the questionnaire: does the similarity of meteorological parameters of a given location appear on the synoptic scale, too? The aim of this paper is to examine this question and depending on the located relationship to designate the research directions in favor of the further development of aviation meteorological forecasting.
