The Arctic in the Strategic Thinking of Russia

Abstract

The Arctic region becomes a more interesting area recently on one hand because of climate changes caused by global warming and on the other hand because of discovered mineral resources, first of all carbohydrates. The geopolitical situation of the area is complicated not only by the bilateral and allied relationship of countries in the region but by the UN’s resolutions and conventions and policy of the EU and the policy of the emerging countries first of all China. I want to continue my research concerning this topic from a new perspective, presenting the point of view/approach of the Russian Federation.
