Aircrew Land Survival Training

Abstract

If we talk about military survival, most of us immediately think of two "surviving" classics, from John Moore the Behind Enemy Lines, or from Ridley Scott the Black Hawk Down. Both cinemas are based on true stories and are a good example of the need for special training for pilots in the field of operations. This can provide them successful survival skills in extreme weather or geographic conditions, as well as hiding, fleeing or escaping from the enemy, and returning to their own troops. Such training is not strange to the helicopter pilots of the Hungarian Defense Forces. The MH 86. Szolnok Helicopter Base has been organizing water and land survival exercises for seven years for aircraft personnel. The importance of the training has been revalued in the missions in Afghanistan; these exercises have been the basis of missionary training for years. In my writing - as an instructor of the survival exercises - I'm trying to present the requirements of the land survival trainings for aircrew members, the structure of domestic training and the results achieved so far.
