Development of Turboshaft Engine Test Bench

Abstract

Our article describes the development process of the Deutz T216 test bench at BME Department of Aeronautics, Naval Architecture and Railway Vehicles. It states those conditions which have led to the necessity of development, meanwhile it also gives details about the capabilities of the old system, which significantly required improvement. The core of the article describes the data acquisition and control system, in which the reader gets an thorough picture about the differences between newly developed and original systems. The test bench has been put into operation after a prolonged preservation period, thus the authors have been able to conduct measurements after finalizing the control system. Finally, mostly based on the newly measured data sets and operational conditions of the gas turbine, conclusions are drawn and some further development possibilities are also shown.
