The Preparation for War, Development of Protection Against Air Raids in Miskolc, Bombings Events of the Year 1944, the Damages, the Tasks and Experiences of the Rescue and the Reconstruction

Abstract

The author introduces the basic function of the home passive air defence, organizational structure, status of leadership, management and to inform implementation of protection of the population and properties within the framework of the preparation for war in town Miskolc. It provides a comprehensive picture about the events of air raids on a city and their effects. He describes the attack forces, the basic technical data of aircraft and used bombs. He demonstrates the damages caused by bombings and the tasks performed during the rescue and the restoration. He draws conclusions on the implementation of the wartime defense planning. The author performs a comparative analysis between onetime population protection tasks and requirements and current rescue and rehabilitation of the damage caused by disasters and related requirements. The author analyses the solutions of the reconstruction of the built environment and the rehabilitation of the natural environment.
