Required Matco (MATCO) Competencies for the Efficient Air Traffic Management at the Airfield in Mission Environment

Abstract

The Hungarian Military Air Traffic Controllers (MATCOs) have already experienced in responsibilities of air traffic managment at the airfield of mission enviroment. Contrary to that fact, those MATCO personnel who get used to the specifications of the domestic airfields, normally find the traffic management tasks of mission airfield challenging. Worth emphazinig the stress what the changed working enviroment may generate, the difficulties meant the handling of common civilian and military traffic, those flight procedures in handling the MATCOs are inexperienced, the dinamically changing traffic situations, or the cooperation with different nation’s civilian and military air traffic controllers (ATCOs) among the challanges. A training that duration is optimal and fufilled with special content of profession can make the MATCOs’ integration into changed working enviroment ease and faciliate the effective operation. In this paper recommendations taken by the results of the findings of international questionare and standards of civilian ATCO training.
