The Administration of Civil Registration in Austria

Abstract

The aim of the study is – after a short review of the historical development of the administration of Civil Registration in Austria – to introduce the Austrian electronic register system. The new electronic information system accomplishes a fast, effective, country-wide reachable unified registration, data connection between the electronic register and other electronic information systems, furthermore it ensures electronic administration concerning civil registration.
The Austrian electronic register is examined based on the following aspects: object of the register; registration; organisation; electronic administration, data connection and data transmission from the register. Finally, the Hungarian electronic register system is compared to the Austrian system in order to highlight those Austrian legal solutions which could be implemented in Hungary, as well.
