István Egyed and the Hungarian Science of Administrative Law

Abstract

The National University of Public Service organized the ‘István Egyed Memorial Year’ in 2016. This study looks into the life and works of István Egyed (1886–1966), Professor of Hungarian Science of Administrative Law. This work pays special attention to Professor Egyed’s oeuvre. The paper applies a historical-retrospective method on the basis of primary and secondary sources. The first part introduces the professor’s career and works in general; the second part underlines the different opinions in secondary legal literature. The third part of the essay analyses some important monographs of Professor Egyed. Our conclusion is: this conservative author and his oeuvre in the present age is extremely significant.
