The Austrian State Prosecutor’s Office in Hungary in 1849–1861
Abstract
After the defeat of the 1848–1849 Revolution and War of Independence began the violent modernization of the country in the united Austrian Empire. The office of the public prosecutor was organized based on the French system between 1849 and 1861, and it mainly carried out criminal justice. However, this was incompatible with the traditional Hungarian constitutional law, and disappeared after the political changes in Hungary. In the constitutional conditions after 1867, it was considered a model for organizational, service and competency solutions.
