Abstract

The role of local governments is critical in the tourism of a settlement or destination, as it has a direct impact on the experiences of the tourists arriving there. The attractiveness and competitiveness of the destinations and settlements is determined by the diversity, complexity and quality of the products and services available. This paper presents in a structured way the role of local governments in developing tourism destinations. In order to create the Good Local Governance Assessment System (GLGAS), we apply the framework of the Good State Assessment System (GSAS).
