Historical Overview of Water Management in Hungary from the Austro–Hungarian Compromise to the Present Day

Abstract

Water management and, in this context, water quality protection and water management, as well as the protection against water damage are in the best interests of all societies. The field is currently undergoing significant organisational and legal changes. In this article, the author describes the institutional and major legislative changes of water management in the period from the conciliation to the present, divided into six historical periods. As a result of this research, she presents the evolution leading to the current system and operation of water management. Looking for points of cooperation between law enforcement agencies and administration that can make it difficult for the industry to work effectively the author suggests ways to avoid potential problems.
